She is born in Athens and is a graduate of the Department of History and Archaeology of the University of Ioannina. She holds a Doctoral degree in Byzantine History from the University of Ioannina. Her PhD thesis is titled The diplomatic marriages in Byzantium (6th-12th centuries). She has taught at the Ionian University and the Hellenic Open University.
She works as a Lecturer at the Department of History and Archaeology of the University of Ioannina. She has been the Academic Supervisor of the Center of Greek Language and Civilization of the University of Ioannina. Her research interests focus on the relations between Byzantium and the West, diplomatic relations, as well as the history of relics. The Crusades are also her field of research. She has participated in International Conferences in Greece and in other European countries and has made several scientific publications on related subjects.
