Short CV
She is born and raised in Arta and is a graduate of the Department of History of the Ionian University and holds a Master’s and Doctoral degree in Byzantine History from the University of Ioannina. Her PhD thesis entitled War in Western Greece in the Late Middle Ages [INR/NHRF Monographs 8], Athens 2008 (in Greek), has been recognized by the international literature. She has received a post-doctoral fellowship by the National Scholarships Foundation to conduct research at the National Hellenic Research Foundation. She has also worked as a scientific associate in several research projects at the Institute for Byzantine Resaearch/ NHRF, the University of Athens and the Ionian University. She has taught at the Ionian University, the University of Patras, the University of Thessalia, the Hellenic Open University, as well as the the Academy for Non-commissioned Officers and the Technological and Educational Institution of Epirus.
She works as an Assistant Professor at the Department of History and Archaeology of the University of Ioannina. She has been recently the Academic Supervisor of the research project entitled “Prosopography of Medieval Epirus (4-15th cent.)”. Her research interests focus on the military history of Byzantium, Byzantine society, Balkan peoples, historical geography and local history. She has participated in International Conferences in Greece and in other European countries and has made several scientific publications on related subjects.
She is an active member of the Greek Committee of the Association of Byzantine Studies and the Society for Research on relations between medieval and modern Hellenism and the West. She also participates in the Academic Society of Arta and has been a board member of the Musical and Philological Association of “Skoufas” in Arta.
